Slow Work Getting Done

So, I'm still doing school stuff a lot and also looking at teaching myself C++.
So, in the downtime between all of that, I've implemented a day/night system into the game.
Take a look:


Works alright and has no conflicts with anything else I've put into the game, so I'd say it's a win.

State of Affairs.

No update in a while, so I'll let ya'll know what's happening.
 Lot's of school work. It's that time of the season for tons of tests and papers.
 Plus most of my current works aren't easy to show. Mostly database.

UPDATES

Hey guys/gals

I've been working on getting the game's database filled up with items, weapons and everything else, BUT I've managed to get a few graphical prizes out for you all:




This will be Alan's primary weapon set. A few more may be added at a later date.



These two will be a part of a new race entering the world. Will they be the limit in terms of type?

 These faces show some minor re-designs to Alan and Pheelo that are reflected in their charactersets as well.

New Characters and Costumes

Hey Guys!
Just a small update:

A new character has joined the fray:


Nani Iris (or just Iris)
Weapon: 
Whip/Rings
Backstory:
A dancer in the dangerous city of Nysa, Iris is no stranger to violent situations. However, she fairs better than most men when it comes to defending herself. Her crass attitude is only offset by her elegant performances. Her life in the badlands is one day changed forever when she is approached by a mysterious cloaked man. 


And also, I'm inputting a costume system to be used with certain equipments (trigger may change). As an example, here's Alan as a martial arts student:

Update: Story Base and Main Character Sprites

So I have some sprites made out for the RMXP prototype of this game.

This game will be based around two main characters:


Alan Ryder
Weapon: 
Fists
Minor Background: 
Hailing from a land where military might is the primary export, Ryder is the top of his generation to head off to battle. Headstrong and stubborn as a mule, he rushes recklessly into a fight with little consideration for others.

Pheelo Solis
Weapon:
 Staff/Halberd
Minor Background:
A victim of a shipwreck, little is known about him other than he is a stranger in a foreign land. Often calm and collected, he has a very hot head when the time is right.


Along with these characters, I give you a small sampling of this project's opening story. Enjoy.

The Koltet Empire

A nation built upon the now ancient tales of the Empyreans and their power. They sought to bring that power onto the Empire; to mold the world in the image of the Koltet.



The Kingdom of Raynes

A land saturated with the forgotten gifts of the Empyreans, they use the land around them until it is nothing short of dismal swamps and barren wastelands, only satisfied when nothing more of use can be salvaged. The legend of the Empyreans means nothing; neither does their respect for their creations. Only the use and abuse of the land for the kingdom’s sake mattered.



These major empires eventually found themselves looking to one another’s land to satiate the ails of their own nations.

Eventually, the nations came to a head and the Days of Blood began…



For decades, the two nations tore away at each other, sacrificing countless lives and subjugating just as many neutral territories for their own barbaric ends; that is, until…

Seven years ago

The armies of the two nations stood against each other on the barren Altis Badlands, ready to lay the entire war out into one final confrontation. It looked to be the bloodiest war ground in Illia’s history…

And it was…

Hundreds of thousands of soldiers clawed away at one another leaving nothing but piles of corpses behind them.

Despite the battle looking to continue in a bloody stalemate…



“The Lights”

An otherworldly assault of light rained down upon the battlefield.

Thought to be a message from the long-forgotten Empyreans, those lights killed almost all of the soldiers on both sides of the war grounds.

After the dust cleared, there were only a few thousand lives left.

This event ultimately brought an end to this battle.

For fear of it happening again, caused an unsteady ceasefire between the nations.

For the past seven years, Koltet and Raynes have been coexisting, but nothing as uneasy as the current ceasefire can last forever…

I'm your host, Gary (or Xaine, as I am known on many forums).

It's been a long while since I've been here. Been very busy with school and work and the like.
 
I have once again begun a new project (still to be named).
 
It will progress through several stages of development:

RMXP Prototype
Kickstarter
Java Beta
Java Finale (hopefully)
